Nepal’s pioneering mountaineer and the first female IFMGA  Guide from South Asia to conquer 14 peaks, breaking barriers in adventure.

Dawa Yangzum Sherpa, from
Eastern Nepal’s Gaurishankar,
cherishes the Himalayas.

In 2012, aged 21, Dawa Yangzum Sherpa reached Everest’s peak. Presently, she organizes yearly high-altitude climbing courses, empowering Nepali women to conquer life’s challenges.

At 13, Dawa Yangzum defied expectations, journeying to Kathmandu. There, she pursued her dream of summiting Everest and building a career in the mountains.

Dawa Yangzum shifted from running to ice and rock climbing at the Khumbu Climbing Center (KCC), founded in 2003 by Conrad Anker and Jennifer Lowe-Anker, improving safety for Nepali climbers.

Inspired by the aid she got, Dawa Yangzum aims to empower girls like her, creating support for future Nepali women. She launched a yearly climbing course for them at KCC.

& Achievements

Dawa began pursuing IFMGA guide certification in 2013, achieving it four years later. During this time, she guided on Mount Rainier, conquered K2, nannied in Denver, and attempted Kangchenjunga.
